A Yorkipoo should be given a balanced diet full of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that transcend into proper physical and mental growth.

All Yorkipoo owners must heed that any kind of raw food is best for them. This is because their stomach is inherently designed to digest carbohydrates and proteins. Raw food is best for them to minimize the stress on their digestion.

On average, their recommended daily intake tends to be 1/4- 1 cup of top-quality dry food split into two meals. However, it’s important to note that this might vary if your Yorkipoo is an adult as other factors like its build, metabolism, age, activity level, and more may need to be accounted for.

Another important thing to consider is if your dog is under or overweight. If you’re unsure of doing this, you’ll want to see if you can see their waist. Once doing this, place your hands on their back, thumbs on their spine, and fingers down. If you can feel their ribs but not see them, they are ok. However, they will require less food and more exercise if you can’t.

Exercise

Even though the Yorkie Poo doesn’t need a lot of exercise, it still must be walked every day. Try and aim to take them for both morning and evening walks. You might want to mix up their exercise routine by playing a game of fetch with them or taking them on a run.

Training

If you get a Yorkipoo, you must train them from a young age. They are easy to train if you train them while young. They’ll usually pick up training quite quickly as they’re a quick learner, just like their Poodle parent. Do note sometimes; they can also inherit their Poodle parent’s stubborn streak; however, this trait can be easily removed if you’re consistent and provide them with plenty of positive reinforcement.

Even though this small dog is a relatively low shedder, they still require daily brushing to keep their coat healthy, silky, and tangle-free. You’ll want to use a slicker brush to do this and keep their hair away from their eyes to stop them from getting irritated. Alongside this, their coat should be trimmed regularly to their required length to ensure they’re good to touch. You might want to take them to a professional groomer to do this.

It’s also important to know never to neglect to brush the teeth of a Yorkipoo. Their teeth should be brushed 2-3 times a week to remove excess tartar and bacteria. Toy breeds like the Yorkipoo have dental problems due to their tiny mouth. Therefore you must do this to eliminate gum disease and bad breath.

Their nails should also be trimmed once or twice a month if they’re not naturally worn down. To know when to trim their nails, you should listen out for them clicking on the floor; if they do this, they’re too long.

• Hyperadrenocorticism
• Portosystemic Shunt (PSS)
• Epilepsy
• Patellar Luxation
• Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease

You must take them to a veterinarian for frequent checkups to rule out any of these health problems.

Male vs. Female

When it comes to the difference between genders, there’s not much! The main difference is that a male tends to be more child friendly; however, they’re more difficult to be trained than females.
